Badlisyah Abdul Ghani is the founding President of the Chartered Institute of Islamic Finance Professional (CIIF), the standard bearer of professionals in the Islamic finance industry globally.
Badlisyah started his Islamic finance career 19 years ago when he joined an offshore subsidiary of the world’s first licensed Islamic bank, Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad. He joined CIMB Group in 2002 and founded CIMB Islamic, it’s global Islamic finance unit in the same year. His appointment as CEO of CIMB Islamic Bank 4 years later made him one of the youngest person to helm a licensed bank in Malaysia at the age of 32. He is currently the Chairman of Yasaar Group, an Islamic business and finance advisory boutique.
He is a member of the Standing Committee on Islamic Financial Reporting of the Malaysian Accounting Standard Board; the Islamic Finance Committee of the Malaysian Accounting Institute; and the Law Harmonisation Committee of Bank Negara Malaysia. He was elected by his peers as the 7th President of the Association of Islamic Banks in Malaysia and was the 1st Chairman of the Islamic Capital Market Committee of the Malaysian Investment Banking Association.
Badlisyah was awarded Islamic Banker of the Year in multiple and consecutive years from different international publications for his leadership in the industry globally. He was named one of Top 20 Pioneer in Islamic Finance by Euromoney in 2004.
He holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom, an alumnus of the ICLIF program and a lifetime member of ANSARA.
